HAWAIIAN-STYLE WEDDING CEREMONY

Prologue:

The Chant; A call to consciousness and to gather the spiritual blessings for the gathering

Opening Words to the Gathering:

On behalf of ____ and ____, I welcome you all with much aloha to this significant occasion in their lives. We give thanks to the forces of the heavens and the earth, the wind and the water, the fire and the air that grace us with their gifts and presence. We also invite the guardian angels, the Aumakua of ___ and ____, as well as the guardian angels of all present to be with us at this time.

Let us now become still   and tune into the sacredness of this moment, as we are going to witness one of the most joyful events in a couple's life: the point in time when they are intertwining their destinies to be best friends, lovers, partners. Two human beings who embark on a lifelong journey of unfolding and blossoming more and more each day by joining into sacred union and by dedicating their lives to being one in Love.

Marriage is a holy estate, born out of the love of God.

It is a relationship entered into freely, reverently and with gratitude. Blessings upon blessings will shower upon the couple through their vows spoken to each other publicly in the company of family and friends.

Personal Facts of the couple:

Special event, special time and ...

And this is a very special place for in the Hawaiian Islands we find something very unique: the Aloha Spirit. Love is cherished as the foundation of all life processes. Love is celebrated   as the highest quality in human relationships and magnified in their connection to the Godhead. Love that is pervading all aspects of life. Love is all there is...Aloha means sharing a breath of God with each other, again and again each day.

This is indeed a very special place ....and .... have chosen to be wedded today!

The Hawaiians call it the piko honua, the womb of the world. Here was once the old Lemuria or mu in Hawaiian l Ïanguage, from where we all come and to which we will all eventually return. It stands as a metaphor for life's journey: sometimes we loose the connection to Love and get distracted from the path of true happiness and yet, when remembering Love, for each other and to God, what a blessing and great joy!

Readings:

Let us now hear some readings that the couple has chosen for today.

i.e.

The Apostle Paul describes the characteristics of Love:

"Love is patient, Love is kind. Love is not envious, jealous or boastful. It is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on it's own ways. It is nor irritable and resentful. It does nor rejoice at wrong and wrongdoing. But rejoices in right and truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends."

The Exchange of Leis:

In Hawaiian tradition the exchange of leis means embracing one another in love.

Just like the flowers are held together by a common thread, so we are   kui' ed to each other in Love a Ìs spiritual beings. In ancient times the leis were created to bring flowers and healing herbs from the mountains to the sea. Today they are used in all ceremonies to express affection and respect towards a cherished person. Head and shoulders of a person are considered sacred and therefore, placing a lei around another person's shoulders is a gesture of great honor to the one to whom the lei is given.

Groom and Bride exchange leis with their vows of love to each other

Groom:

I promise to love and cherish you, honor and respect you as my beloved wife

Bride:

I promise to love and cherish you, honor and respect you as my beloved husband.

May these rings symbolize the power of creating together states of great happiness, joy, bliss and harmony, even new life springing forth from the union of the two of you.
